Happy Easter!

Yesterday was the Orthodox Easter. Living in Greece for so many years I got to celebrate a lot of Easters. I really love how it is celebrated there. The food, as always, is very important on the Easter Day. On Saturday evening, after the midnight Divine Liturgy, the family gathers together for the traditional Magiritsa. In the beginning I couldn't stand it at all, but that changed after a few years.

Being away from home I decided to try and make my own Easter dinner. It would be the first time for me so the stress was high. I'm not that really talented when it comes to cooking. We wanted to celebrate it with our new friends and the fact that they are vegetarians didn't help my stress, because the traditional Magiritsa is made with meat. I was wondering what to do when one of my friends suggested that in stead of meat I could use mushrooms. What a great idea!!! But then to make things even more difficult I decided to make both of them. So I just went form never cooking a Magiritsa in my entire live, to making two of them at the same time!! Even though I used only half of the ingredients required for both of them, we ended up with too much food just for 4 persons. Yeap, that sounds like the Greek Easter in deed :)

Also there were red peppers filled with feta cheese, baked Hallumi and for dessert my friends had brought with them some chocolate cakes wich had liquid chocolade in the middle! The cakes were gone within seconds so there was no time for taking any photos. I can assure you though that they were a m a z i n g !!

We had a really great time and that made us feel a little bit better about being away from family and friends.

Grunewald

On Saturday the weather was very good, so Mr G. and I decided to take a little trip. We went to Grunewald. We didn't want to go very far away and Grunewald is about 40 minutes with public transportations from where we live. The area is very nice. Beautiful houses, trees, even a small lake make the scenery peaceful and relaxing. We walked by the lake for a few hours talking and taking pictures. I like exploring new places.

Isn't that lovely? After this walk we were pretty hungry. A plate of Vietnamese food is always a good idea :)

yummy...

The view from my window

I'm back!! Finally!! With everything that was going on the past few weeks I didn't even noticed that it's spring already!! The other day I went outside dressed as if I was going to the North Pole and the heat just heat me!! I love it!! We've been having a really great weather for the last 5 days! I hope it stays that way.

It's almost a month since we moved to our new apartment. At the beginning we didn't have any forniture, except for the bed and the sofa :) Things were all over the place and I needed to do something about it. So I created a cupboard out of the sofa boxes, 2 bedside tables, out of the boxes that the lamps came in and a little bin for the bathroom. It helped a little.

DIY closet :)

But only for a little while, because not later than that, our stuff arrived and it was chaos all over again. Wherever you looked there were boxes. I think I even had a dream about them once. Have I mentioned how much I don't like moving??? We have tried to do our best to get them out of the way as soon as we could. But still many boxes are unpacked and will stay that way for a little bit longer, basically  because we don't have the space to put all of these things in. We still have to get a real closet. All of our clothes are in the boxes and this can be really frustrating some times.

Same thing goes for my craft room. All of my supplies are packed, but I'm working on it. I have my computer set up, the sewing machine is out of the box. I will need to oil it though before I can start sewing again. That is if I'll ever find the oil bottle in this mess. I really love my little studio though. I never had one before and I'm really grateful I can have it. Look at the view from my window.

You see all that trees?? I can wait to see them all green. It's so quiet out there. Can you spot the bird's nest just outside my window? It's empty right now, but I hope it won't stay that way for long. I love spring.

p.s. I think we have a ghost in our building. I keep on hearing noises outside our door (we live on the last floor...). Old wooden floors can be loud. But when I look through the peep hole, no one is there. Mystery....  :)
